Texas Senate Republican Caucus Rejects Accusations of Impeachment Trial Influence

AUSTIN, TX - In response to recent allegations casting doubt on the integrity of the Senate during the impeachment trial of Attorney General Ken Paxton, the Texas Senate Republican Caucus issued the following statement:

"We reject any suggestions or accusations levied against members of the Texas Senate that the trial of Attorney General Ken Paxton was predetermined or influenced. As sworn jurors, each senator acted with the utmost integrity, strictly adhering to senate rules, precedent, and legal standards throughout the trial. The depiction of Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick as having influenced the votes cast is not just deeply misleading, but factually incorrect—Lt. Governor Patrick never contacted or swayed any senator about his or her vote.”
